Real numbers and effects
Where do these numbers come from?
The estimates of saved tons of CO₂ and MWh of energy are based on a comparison of emissions and energy consumption in the production of new plastics (from virgin raw material) with the recycling process. According to the adopted standards, the production of 1 ton of polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE) from crude oil generates on average 1.5 tons of CO₂ more and requires significantly more energy than recycling.
